I’ve had a lot of pick up trucks, but I bought my first four-wheel-drive pick up truck on April 1 of this year. My 2023 Access cab Tacoma with the SX blackout package. And I wondered how long it would really take me to have an opportunity to go four wheeling because I live in Dallas. And I get around Texas a lot, but there’s not a lot of public land like other states. However, last week I made an interesting discovery. Driving down State Highway 86 up in the Texas panhandle from Palo Duro Canyon to Caprock Canyon State Park I discovered a back route. A 22 mile four-wheel-drive trail that follows the perimeter of Caprock Canyon State Park and drops you off right there at the front gate (86 to 256 to CO 29). This is an extremely remote part of Texas and I was by myself, but the truck handled absolutely admirably and wonderfully even gooing up these sort of muddy rock staircase things. I was never worried about it the entire time or I would’ve turned around and gone back the other way probably. When I got to the park and was checking in, I told the woman Ranger which way I’d come in. She looked at me like I was insane and said “you made it? We had a huge rain last week and we don’t send our own four-wheel-drive trucks up there until the graders have had a chance to go through. You’re lucky you made it. it cost $800 to get a tow truck back there and people knock their oil pans off all the time. I guess it’s a good thing you knew what you were doing.” I told her it was the first time I’ve ever driven a four-wheel-drive truck off-road my entire life! Ha. The whole experience just made my day. I love this truck!IMG_1138.jpg IMG_1143.jpg IMG_1154.jpg IMG_1148.jpg IMG_1149.jpg IMG_1152.jpg

    A great adventure! Well Done!

I believe she expected that an 'experienced' TX 4x4 driver would be legally required to 'send' it down those stair things at full throttle!

These trucks are quite capable. They will get you there AND back if you treat them right!

Ya just got to love going on an adventure like that! Every time I go wheeling it’s a bit different, even if it’s the same area. Road conditions change, weather changes, just never know.

Many square miles of thick green growth that can hide "other green growth". Maybe you SHOULD HAVE paid attention to those bullet holes.:rofl::infantry::infantry:
