I have heard that about snow usage and that would definitely be important if I needed a four season tire. I've run dedicated snows for the last 12 years or so since I had a house and the room to swap and I have the luxury of being okay with a P-rated snow tire rather than an LT. It helps offset the loss of fuel economy with winter blend fuels.

I’ve run Toyo AT II for my last two sets of tires on my truck. Check out the cracking between the treads in my tires now. These were installed in late 2019 and are swapped out for snow tires in the winter.

Keep an eye on it but I wouldn't be concerned about those in the current condition.

I support this. The RT is extremely intriguing. Let us know when you give it a shot.

That cracking not common on the Toyos from what I've experienced, and between me, my brother, and my dad we put well over 500k miles on the A/T IIs. I've run A/T IIIs on the GX and my brother has them on his T4R. Zero issues whatsoever.

The truck has a leveling kit, which the tires rub at close to full lock on plastic at the moment

Thankfully they all balanced, but there's a wheel that has a problem for sure. Took about the same amount of weight to balance the 35 versus the 33. Which was a ton of weight

Improvement in every way, shape, and form. The A/T III is my favorite and what I will argue is the best all-around all-terrain tire on the market factoring in dry grip, off-road capability, noise, longevity, looks, and price/value.

I stopped by friday and looked at the wheel. I just let them talk and didn't say much. It was not a paint chip. It was clean, even grind down the outer lip. It is past the paint and into metal. I looks like a drove down the road with a locked up wheel and no tire mounted. They were adamant that they pulled the wheel out of box like that and never tried to mount it.
My friend told me to look for slight marks on the wheel barrel. He said new, black wheels will get slight scuffs while getting tires mounted and they show up pretty easily. Sure enough, there was marks..
I explained to them my timeline of owning the wheels, boxing, and all the pictures I had. He agreed to repair the wheel for free. They are going to media blast the wheel and repaint in. They have in-house paint/body, and powdercoating. Luckily the damaged area is mostly hidden by the curb protector rib on tires and not on the sealing surface.
Given the interactions, i think the owner and the lead tech were being truthful to what they saw and knew. However, I think all of us suspected someone started to mount it, fucked the wheel, re-boxed it, and threw it at the bottom to try and hide it.

Thanks for humoring me with all the tire talk recently. Late last night, I placed my order online. I let my wallet do the talking. 4 GY Duratrac RTs should be put on the runner Saturday morning. Installed 1147.83 total, then 180 in Rebate visa cards, drops it down to under 250 a sneaker. I was leaning towards the ultra terrains, as that was cheaper and I have no complaints about the set I have. However, being a discount tire only item, and we have no discount tires up this way, it became a little more challenging to get them. Last time the DT rep helped, now DT doesn't have a rep monitoring the forums. I also was highly considering the Toyos, but $$ talks and I wasn't able to get as good a deal on them.

I stayed away from the 33 this time, as I didn't want to add more possible issues before we leave in a couple weeks. Next set will be 33's, once I finish wearing down the ultra terrains, I will upsize on one of my sets of wheels.

I'm 99% sure I ran into the same thing when I bought my five TRD Beadlocks. The dealership I used had a buy 3 get 1 tire deal going on so I timed it that I'd order five wheels and get four of them mounted. During the process they came out and said one of the tires wasn't balancing and that they'd need to get a new tire, which they did and sent me on my way. However, when I opened up the 5th wheel it was clear the ring had been put on and heavily gouged, then hastily removed (which is wild as Toyota's own instructions say mount the tire then the ring), reboxed and given back to me. Luckily I was able to go right to parts and complain and they ordered me a brand new 5th wheel.

So I agree with @tacobell007 on this, someone tried to cover their tracks. I hate dishonest people when it comes to stuff like this.

Edit, I thought I posted this days ago but I was having reply issues. Late to the party, certainly.

It is a shame because I would expect Toyota to do better. You made a smart move buy purchasing wheels and tires from the same place and having them install as well. The accountability is locked in. Wheel and tire mounting seems to be done by the second string techs. My co-worker got new tires installed on his f90 M5 at a performance shop. They gak'd the wheels terribly and wouldn't own up to it.

I hit a small deer today. I'm not sure what condition it's in because it did a barrel roll across the road into the woods, then I think it took off running because I couldn't find it. I called the state police barracks and let them know and they said they'd drive the road a few times in case it comes back out.

No damage to the truck, just a tuft of fur stuck on the license plate.
