So as title says, what’s everyone doing for brake upgrades. The steep grades we pull our bass boat up and down are killing the brakes. Today was the first time it has really gotten bad but by the time we were down from the lake I could hardly stop. Truck is a hybrid so it’s been hard to find anything to fit.

I don't think 4th gen big brake upgrades are available yet. Swapping pads is probably your best bet.

If the trailer is a tandem axle trailer a lot of the time they only have brakes on one axle. You can install brakes on the other axle for more braking power. I actually own a cargo trailer that has brakes on both axles but I found out when I went through the wheel bearings that the forward axle wasn't even hooked up. I spliced them in and it made a big difference.

Trailer brakes and downshifting will get the job done. Downshifting alone should be enough to control speed with a bass boat and not be on the brakes much.

How are you managing your engine braking? A bass boat with surge brakes shouldn’t require a brake upgrade.

20’ Basscat and trailer has functioning brakes. Yesterday was the first time at this particular ramp, which has about 8-9 miles of steep grades on the way out, so it’s quite a ways. Will say truck does great pulling, definitely surprised by how easy it manages.
