Is it possible to remove the cam bolts of the LCA ONLY so one can weld in a gusset kit, WITHOUT having to remove the entire LCA?

Seems it might not be that straight forward to get everything back in alignment after... so it might be more effective to just weld in place and go slow and use a soaked rag to keep bushing cool?

If you mark the positions the cam bolts were in, you should be able to reinstall them back exactly how they were. Be prepared for ones that are frozen with rust though (the possibility is always there you'll need to cut them out and replace).
Go slow with your welds... Lay them down in small increments (or like spot or tack-welds) and you should be fine as far as the bushings go (they're actually pretty tolerant of heat, but will of course burn if directly up against glowing-hot metal).

just remove the LCA completely and use the cam hardware to hold the gusset in place while you weld....you'll need an alignment afterwards anyway
