Bed rail or molle storage options for fuel and water

Let’s start this by letting everyone know I don’t want to run rotopax. They need maintenance, cost a ton and not a fit for my plans.

I’d like to know if anyone is using the bed rails or a molle panel setup to mount extra water/gas cans in the bed. I need it low enough to fit under a tonneau as well.

I’ve seen some options but I don’t want to stop 400+ and hope it works if someone else has a system I am not aware of that will fit my
Purpose.

 

Pretty simple. A center molle panel with containers and straps of your choice. A five gallon gas and five gallon water can should fit under your cover. After wrestling with a five gallon water tank during my last trip, I am ditching it for two Dometic three gallon water jugs to spread the workload and carry a little more water. That space to the right has room for a five gallon jug if you choose.

RotoPax need maintenance?! How? How are they different than any other plastic gas can?

 

check out rago fabrications. This is what I put in my truck and just lowered the bracket with the extender. Using rotopax but it should work for whatever you have in mind.

 

Rotopax recommends that you vent the cans at least once a day or twice if it’s hot. Yes they do make a venting lid that you can pay an extra $30 or $40 for, but at that point it’s simply not worth it.

I added some 3rd gen bed D-rings to the pockets around the wheels.

Initially just used ratchet straps but I didn't like the way the bed walls lean so I took bent some sheet metal to make a vertical mount.


PS: They hold a 5-gallon steel jerry can just as well and I can put 2 water jugs on the same side.
