Just hit 163k on my Tacoma. I now have this sound when accelerating from a stop. It happens until about 30mph and then stops. I then have some noticeable vibration at 60-70mph. The sound only happens when the truck hasn’t been driven for a few hours it seems like because I can’t reproduce it if I have just driven it much. I’ve had people suggest it may be U joints but those seem fine but not positive, I do have some play in the carrier bearing so not sure if that could play a part in it.

uploaded video to YouTube to show sound.

start inspecting stuff, process of elimination...
put car in nuetral with brake off, on flat ground...
start trying to get movement out of your u joints...
if youre not mechanically incline, spray the living shit out of your u joints with a lubricant of some sort & see if noise changes any...
Thats not a fix, just a test to isolate.
    inspect the brakes....

noise along with vibration, ide say your u joints are toast...
look harder, figure out what youre looking for...

If you dont know what youre doing, take it to a shop before matters get worse.
You could seriously damage your drive shaft resulting in dishing out substantially more money....

    Really sounds like a u-joint

To check them correctly you have to drop the driveshaft down and flex each joint back and forth by hand.
