It’s actually a Mazda design, but Kia started selling them in North America as the Sportage in like 1994. My dad was stationed at Moffett Field in NorCal from 1996 to 1998, and one time in 1997 we took a family trip to San Francisco. My dad saw a Kia Sportage parked at the curb while we were on a cable car if I remember correctly. My dad pointed it out to me and asked if knew what a Kia was, and I told him that I’d never heard of them. Neither of us knew what a Kia was that day!

Also in 1997, my parents took me to the Ringling Brothers circus in San Jose and I can remember seeing a large ad for a Kia Sephia at the venue; I believe it was the same place where the San Jose Sharks play.

They aren't bad for what they are......
    Good cheap beat'em up SUV.

Those were one of the few Kia vehicles that had decent engines.
Back when Kia wasn't so bad.

2000 Subaru Impreza L; I saw two vehicles on the wholesale lot at CarShop with expired 2016 inspection stickers, the other being a seemingly decent 2005 Toyota Highlander. The possibilities of how this car ended up traded it with expired inspection stickers…

We had a Suzuki commuter car. Damn reliable car. We had it for 10 years and 112k miles without any issues.

To date, this is still the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned.

I saw yet another one on the road the other day, a black one; I thought it was a Frontier until I passed it and saw the front end in my side view mirror...

The Suzuki equator always shows up when I used to work on frontiers so I’m somewhat aware of them.

they were a terrible brand in Canada. The dealers were all incredibly shady just to stay afloat.

I think there used to be an Isuzu version of a Chevy Colorado too, don't ever recall seeing one though.
