Wait what??? Why? Just notch the lca skids. All u gotta do. I have have full skids, minus fuel tank and I didn’t have to notch’em. Post pics when u do, I’m curious to see. I’ll get u my pics up today

 

2nd pic is driverside looking down towards the rear. 1st is passenger side looking up from underneath. Too lazy to lay down in the dirt, but that’s where I notched. I only had to cut out the back ends on both sides.

 

depending on skids. I just trimmed the Trans Skid. Engine was good. RCI Skids.

I have a RCI engine/trans skid and needed to trim the trans skid a bit. 5 minutes a side with a cut off wheel, 5 minutes a side cleaning it up with a carbide burr. 5 minutes a side painting the cuts.

DRT LCA skids do not need trimmed in my case to fit this.

Makes a big difference in how your truck drives, really tightens up the front end feel.

 

I'm just noticing that greenEFSI has a 2g,
I was going by their photo where they had to cut the transmission and engine skids where they pass under the crossmember.

And I'd love to see, would be awesome if all I need to do is modify the LCA skids.

 

Just received shipping confirmation for my brace kit. Hopefully have a nice weekend coming up so I can clean the cosmoline off my frame, check the fit and prep to weld them on.

 

I have these waiting to be installed, although one thing I'm concerned about in the long run is rust, as it seems that the side directly touching the frame will remain raw steel, which given how it's not water tight, could possibly result in rust that spreads to the frame? I would likely try to inject fluid film into that area, but am curious what others experience has been.

 

When it's welded on, the only concern for subsurface rust would be from porosity in the weld. Same as any other metal psrt, when it's cooled down, protect the surface. Hit it with a self etching primer and a coat of paint, then do whatever you normally do to slow corrosion. Don't forget to hit the inside of the framerails as best you can as well.

 

Water can still get between it in the area around the cam eccentrics as you don't weld on the inner edge, which is my concern.

 

I get that, but you can hit that area with some cosmoline and one it's dry, ubless you're getting after it with a pressure washer, I'd say the chances of the brace causing that to rot out are pretty low.

 

Trying to install today. Going very slow. I will not be posting any detailed shots of the gumball mess I am creating, lmao. I took the time to grind and profile all the tabs so that fit super cleanly to the mating areas on the LCA pivots. I'm an artist with my grinder. But I aint no welder.
