I didn't have any current water in my cabin filter but have seen dried remains on the cabin filter in the past indicating a possible problem. So, while I was doing some other work in the area, I took some action.

First picture is of the cowl intake without my baffle. As you can see the windshield can dump directly into the top of the filter intake. Notice the dirt tracks at the bottom of the windshield. This area has been wet.

Second picture is of my fabricated baffle; the edge starts under the windshield.

The factory installs an additional seal between the windshield and the cowl cover just over the filter input, but it does not seem to work completely. With years of deterioration expected with my ownership I decided to be proactive. When driving at speed I would expect the wind to direct most water up the windshield, but when parked for a duration the water has the opportunity to drain into the vehicle. Ice and snow expanding the seal I suspect does not help.

Looks like a nice mod. The problem you’re fixing is caused by not cleaning the run off path. You need to clean that area along with the drains.

Don't understand "run off path". The drains under the plastic cowl covering are as clean as the area shown in the pictures.
