Moving to Bozeman in the coming months, looking forward to exploring the area for camping, hiking, fishing, etc. What are some good camp spots in SW Montana, or close to Bozeman/Gallatin County.

    Thanks!

Camped here back in 2017. May Creek Campground. Nice, isolated spot.

    Heard elk calling.

Stayed here also. Ponderosa State Park:

It was nice, but a lot of folks around.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Maybe @MTgirl could give you some pointers...she's very knowledgeable of the area.

when you say close to Bozeman how close do you mean? Because everything within an hours drive is reservation only and if you didnt make reservations 6 months ago youre out of luck. No dispersed camping allowed in most areas there beacuse people cant behave themselves and ruin places.

It is amazing. Boiling water in an instant, no fuckery, and super efficient. The fuel lasts forever. I've had this one for over 10yrs.
