Has anyone had problems with the keeping the shift lever boot in place in the manual shift (5 Speed) 2nd Generation Tacomas? Is there any fix other having to purchase and replace a whole new shit console? It seems that the tangs molded into to the plastic console either wear down or break off over time. I tried reshaping the wire hoop inside the shift boot to try and catch any the remaining tangs, but apparently all the tangs are either gone or worn down. I have a 2014 Tacoma 4 x 4 Base Cab with a 5 Speed Manual Trans. Thanks

The slots are small and hard to locate with the wire frame of the boot.

I believe there is 1 on each side, near the middle of the cavity.
You want to grab the boot by the sides and pull up gently and evenly, making sure the front and back are staying even with the sides.
The boot should snap into place before it pops out of the console.

If the wire overly is bent, this will likely not work.

    Good luck!

I've unfortunately had my console out at least 3X and no issues keeping the boot base in the console.

Many Thanks - Was able to find the slots and get the boot back in place and holding. I put some small paint marks on the console so I can find the slots again if I ever need to.. THANKS!!!!!
