...^^^... Our neighbor across the street had that exact Volvo model in that color ... IIRC, they traded in their Chevy for it.

They used to give me a ride to the swimming pool on Saturdays as a kid.

He had a heart attack and drove it into a tree and it was totaled. Bitter-sweet memories there.

 

Wish I had a pic. of our little local drive in back in the day. Normally back in the corner was a 65 425hp 396 vette, and a 65 FI vette, along with a 66 375hp chevelle, a 66 HEMI Coronet, a 66 HEMI Belvidere, a 406 405hp Galaxy my 427 425hp Impala, and quite a few other mid size muscle cars of the day. Both the 425hp 396 and the 375hp 396 ended up with 427 425hp engines in them.
We were in an area of small towns and rural areas, but the local boys sure liked their fast cars, I know of 8 426 HEMIS that were either local or in close proximity. Also saw several other L-72 B body Chevys in the area, some people never even saw one!

 

I’ll never forget the ground shaking as an orange ‘66 Hemi Coronet cruised by me while I was riding my gold stingray bike with gold flake banana seat and 4’ sissy bar. Yes, those were the days! Edit: with my Bobby Orr rookie cards clothes pinned into the spokes.

This is a hat handed out at one of the Cannonball races and signed by Brock Yates. My brother drove his '67 Shelby in it that year with C. Van Tune (editor of Motor Trend) as the copilot.

My pick if I could have anything would be a 1969 Boss 429 in Black or a 1970 in Calypso Coral with the same color matching interior.

 

My pick is a '65 442. I had a good one and I let it slip through my fingers.



This body style is the best of all the years. Smaller and lighter and more nimble than any other year.
