Has anyone OTT tuned their fourth gen yet?

I’m scheduled for this Saturday to get mine done.

    Will keep this thread updated.

Looking forward to your updates but there are a handful of reviews on YouTube now.

We've done quite a few but it seems most aren't on the forums or very active on social media. Here's one that we've done recently

I found this YT interesting. Looked like maybe this Utah guy went to your shop. Here is his thoughts...

All I want is the rev hang fixed, and boost to come on quicker in 1st and second.

We have the ability to reduce the rev-hang. We've just released this update. Complete elimination isn't quite possible due to the internia present. This is a truck designed to have a fair bit of stored energy for off-road/slow/technical terrain.

We can do the rev-hang reduction on a stock calibration on request if needed. But cost will still be similar to the full tune, given our licensing costs.

Be wary of some YouTube reviews. Typically there is an attached incentive for positive reviews. I usually take them with a grain of salt. I prefer real life reviews from forum members.

Curious regarding reducing rev-hang, is it very noticeable from stock to OTT tune? I don't care about more power, but modern day rev-hang on manuals can be super annoying.

It's quite noticeable, immediately. We can do just a Rev-Hang reduction tune if that's what you're after. It's a file that would need to be custom built for you as we don't offer that as a pre-made file, but again we can do that if that's what you're after.

Couldn’t get my truck tuned today unfortunately. Tuner was having a hardware/software issue with the fourth gens. He said he’ll be back in the area in three weeks.

Maybe the Stage 2 will be available by then @JustDSM ?

Got truck OTT tuned two weeks ago. Only put about 300 miles on it so far.

(Wife is expecting any day now, so not much time for testing)

JC Valenzuela tuned my truck. Awesome guy.

The tune amplifies the already great engine and transmission. Feels very refined and no weird issues at all. Holds gears even better than before. I can hold 8th gear going up pretty steep hills. You’d never think this truck has a small displacement four cylinder. Plenty of power on demand and fuel mileage is the same. Turbo spools quick and keeps pulling. Can’t wait to see what else is in store for this platform.

    Cheers OTT

Does the tune cause the truck to stay in a lower gear more often? For example, in "normal" mode I'm at around 1,500 rpm when cruising at 50mph, but it "sport" mode my truck is up around 2,000-2,200 rpm at 50mph so it must be holding a lower gear in sport mode. I prefer the more mellow normal drive mode for my daily commute so just curious if getting tuned would change that. Thanks in advance!

Not at all. I’d say it’s the opposite. It wants to hold higher gears. Which is exactly what I prefer. It’ll lug along in 8th and just spool up when needed instead of dropping a gear. I also prefer normal driving mode and use it almost exclusively.

I got the stock throttle tip-in. It’s spot on

Is the tune done remotely or does the tuner need to physically be there at your truck?
If remotely done, got a contact and pricing?

    thanks.

We can do them remotely or in person. Remote options generally cost a little more as you’re buying the equipment too. We sell it as a package.

When visiting the retailer it’s a one stop shop.

Do you have a list of retailers? I’m in NJ so checking to see how far I need to travel for in person install.

Okay, help me out here...why would I want to have my brand new 24 Tacoma SR5 4x4 tuned? I already love the stock performance of the new engine/tranny combo. Would I see improved gas mileage, particularly while towing my 4K lb. camper? I could see doing the tune for a prior gen because of the performance issues with the old tranny and naturally aspirated 6 cylinder engine, but would I see much bang for my buck doing the OTT tune?
