    Update 6/27/25:
For those who care or those who end up on this thread, I was not able to fix the sensor. I've been in talks with Chassis Unlimited for about 3 weeks now trying to figure this out. They are now talking to their engineers to see if they can get a bracket designed for me that allows for more movement on my sensor so I can move it around a bit more to get it positioned correctly.

According to my Gearwrench Professional Diagnostic Scan tool, it's saying that the slave BSM's horizontal axis is off. So hoping that the new bracket is going to help with that. I'll update if there's anything else.

    Original:
Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone has installed a Chassis Unlimited Octane rear bumper that accomadates the BSM and how that's been working out for you in terms of the BSM working.

I recently just got it and my BSM isn't working at all, or throwing false reads. Was hoping to see what I can do about it. I had a shop do the installation and calibration and they can't get it apparently.

The Tacoma BSM system does not like metal bumpers.

LOL thats great :amen: Apparently metal bumpers that allow for the BSM sensors is rare and few inbetween. Going to see if they can help get the sensors to work, but otherwise, I would have gone with a different bumper for sure.

Yeah seriously. I’m in talks right now with their lead tech guy to see if we can get this to work. Will keep everyone posted!

Dang that looks nice! I was looking at the Apogee but yeah for ~$2,500, I was like the Chassis Unlimited was a better deal at ~$1,350, had the sensors work! How much did you get the Apogee bumper for?

If the Chassis Unlimited bumper doesn’t work even with the tech’s help, I might try to either return it and just get a cheaper bumper, or flex up and get the Apogee…

It wasn’t cheap, ended up being around $2k with tax and shipping back in 2020. I have the older version with integrated hitch receiver, which is fine because I don’t tow with this truck.

Apogee was super responsive and had a great support, the bumper sticking out beyond the bedsides bothers me less than I thought it would. Install was pretty straightforward, just need a friend to help hold it in position.
