Traction Control & ABS Lights

Back in March I had foot surgery, and I was unable to drive. My truck sat in the garage and except for my wife going out and starting the engine for a few minutes every week, it hasn't moved.

Finally, earlier this week I was able to drive it. Now the Traction Control & ABS Lights are coming on intermittently. I haven't touched anything or pressed any buttons.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

 

Traction control and ABS use wheel speed sensors to determine if the one of the wheels isn't turning at the same speed as the others. You might have one going bad. Or it could just be dirty from non-use and will clear up after being driven.

My 07 doesn't have traction control but for about a year now I've had an intermittent CEL. It comes on for 20-30 miles about once a month and then goes off. Code reader says wheel speed sensor. Shop says I may have one going bad, or brake dust or other debris may just be interfering with it working. At any rate they said not to worry until my ABS light also comes on. Then they know it's actually bad and can determine which one.
