Recently TSS sensor completely went out on me. I wouldn’t really care if it weren’t for my cruise control not working at all. Has anyone had experience removing TSS completely? Or know of any common issues besides it being dirty? Thinking of going the delete route but hear that it’s permanent? If anyone can share experience with this it would help out. Also can’t seem to find how much the dealers are doing this for. It’s giving me the dash warning that happens if you unplug the sensor even though it is plugged in. Sensor garnish is clean as well so not to sure what the issue is.

Not sure how to fix it but you can still use cruise control without the radar. I believe you just push and hold the cruise control button instead of just a quick press.

Double-check and clean the front of the garnish or emblem.

If there is a gap between the sensor and the garnish, check for any leaves, debris or insect cocoons that might be interfering with the sensor.

Trace the wiring. Disconnect any connectors and inspect for corrosion. Lube or grease the contacts, if appropriate.

    Check the fuse.

Then, go IT 101 on it. Disconnect the battery. Wait a few. Re-connect and see if problem persists.

Like LOLLY just posted, cruise should still work, just not ‘adaptive’ cruise.

Thanks will give all that a shot tomorrow. Unfortunately it won’t even let me use standard cruise control as I was doing that for a while while the pcs light was on but then the problem got worse and now won’t let me activate either mode anymore.

OP, what modifications do you have on the truck? Anything tapped into the brake circuit like an additional third brake light? Have you recently added any other mods such as suspension or brake work?

If “yes” to any of the above questions, I’d start checking those things first.

Got worse? Time for a OBD scan. Sounds like electrical gremlins.

If you unplug the radar sensor both cruise controls stop working. I know this because I have regularly driven without the grill. It sounds like the OP’s sensor is bad to the point of the vehicle not recognizing it is even present.

I can only imagine a lot more people will be coming to this realization as our vehicles age. A very bad design by Toyota.

Truck is heavily modified but it’s been the same way for at least 30k miles with no sensor issues. Nothing done recently either.

I think, not too sure. I remember early 2021s had a water intrusion problem with the radar sensors. Could have been 2020s too. Dealer was simply adding some sort of tape iirc.
