New member Tacoma question

    I’ve referred to Tacoma world many times in the past to scour the forums for advice on my many Toyotas. I have a 98 & 08 Tacoma and a 98 4Runner. But can’t seem to find an answer to my current issue.

    On my 08 Tacoma 4 cylinder I just replaced the water pump then the thermostat. The tstat I removed had an O ring that the new one didn’t come with. This is in addition to the gasket that seals the tstat housing which I did buy. Went back to the store and they confirmed it doesn’t come with one and they didn’t show anything of the sort recommended or available. A quick search online indicated the same, none of the ones I found came with a similar O ring.

    Can anyone confirm that this O ring is not required? The old one is pretty beat up but should I reinstall it with the new tstat?
