I noticed my transmission pan gasket leaking, checked bolts for tightness and several of them are stripped. Not because I over tightened them, there literally just spinning and held in by RTV (previous owner).
Im thinking of either helicoil, or tapping and going up a size on the bolts.
I’ve noticed that there is not a lot of material to work with and tap.
Anyone ever deal with this problem and have any suggestions?

Around $26,000 worth of unleaded in the fuel tank.
If they are indeed stripped out you can use a helicoil thread insert that will accept the original bolt size. Try using a tap with the original size first, it might work.

    It's an ideal application for Helicoil. M6 x 1.
