Hello, I drive an ‘08 Tacoma TRD with about 230K miles on it. Since buying it, the cruise control has never worked which is no big deal. However, the cruise control light has been turning on and off at random times, just the light though. However, last night the cruise control started randomly kicking in, only when I’m going above 50 mph. I’ve looked into it and I’m seeing that a clock spring replacement seems to be the move but just wanted some more advice on this, thank you!

Do you recall if it's ever worked? Or if it quit around the same time as the CC?

They are both fed from the clockspring.
