I upgraded my 2016 tacoma trd sport headlights to the oem led headlights and installed the conversion harness from 4 plugs to 1 plug. After the installation, my low beam wont come on. My turn signals will flash amber once and nothing else. This is on both headlights thats whats odd. I checked the output voltage at the single plug and 12v is present when low beam is turn on. The voltage for turn signal at the output also see voltage fluctuating. Can it be rhe cheap cable harness i bought from Amazon?

    Paging daveeasa

Almost certainly. And where did you get the lights? Legit source?

I ordered a cheap harness set from Amazon. Did not work. I ordered another set... returning both!

    I'd bet money on it.

And are the lights actually from Toyota?

I had the same issue with one of harnesses. The second set had no low beam. They put the wires in the wrong positions on the 6 pin connector.

Are your new headlights OEM? @Puppypunter builds the harnesses now

Yes @musicisevil, both oem led with one plug for all lights. The reason i suspect the cable is because everytime i unplug it from the headlight, the inner of the connector will come apart and expose the wires

Sounds like the cable is not seated in the connector. The wire should click into the catch inside the connector. Make sure they are all the way in.

It strange that both headlight acts exactly the same.

I’d hit up puppypunter for a legit harness and return the Amazon ones, personally

The first thing I would check is polarity. It’s hard to trouble shoot a harness without knowing what they did, and what colors are what. But most people building these harnesses will usually ground through the high beam. If that’s the case, check that. The turn signal issue can also be caused by this. A brief flash and then nothing is usually an indication the turn circuit is getting overloaded. That is possible to do with a bad ground as well. So I think the best place to start is checking polarity, and checking the wiring on the harnesses is correct. I’m not where I can grab a pic, but I’m betting @caribe makaira might have the diagram handy. If your wires are falling apart when you unplug the harnesses, then I’d definitely consider getting a better quality harness as well. The thing about the ones @daveeasa made and then I took over is they are handmade with better parts, but they are also tested. I know that makes them a little pricier (although I have seen the same low quality ones go for like $120 a set… *cough*headlightrevolutions*cough*) but I think in the end it’s worth it. But I’m probably biased :D
