    Hello Everyone,

I'm new to this forum. I bought a new 2023 Tacoma Sport 4WD and just changed My Diff/Trans case oil at 30k and found these metal shavings that look different from the other forums. The shavings look like there swirling.

I have never towed nor any offroad adventures except a one time drive on shallow sand to test the 4WD.

Any idea on what this is coming from?

I am heading to my dealership to give them the material.

    Thanks

No good … definitely have it towed to dealer on their dime and have them inspect the differential components.

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

If everything is running smooth & quiet I'm betting they will say it is leftover from manufacturing and the magnet caught it as designed.

There are many reports of this on the forum. The consensus is that the shavings are manufacturing debris that you do not need to be concerned about.

They look much like shavings from a drill bit or thread tap and nothing like chunks of gears or bearings.

I haven't heard any noises that I'm aware of. I am actively listening since finding these shavings. I haven't been able to get to dealership because of the Memoral Weekend. All service shops are closed....

It was alot of debris and shavings with small silver particles covering my Magnet, took awhile cleaning the debris.
