Those straps are impossible to pull out all the slack. I adjusted the strap as tight as it will go and then connect it to car seat atttachments on the truck using the straps that come with the car seat. If you run the seatbelt through the back of car seat you will have problems

Anyone got two rear facing seats, side by side? One behind the drivers/ passenger, the second in the middle?

    Combi Coccoro will work.

Just make sure you follow the instruction and wrap the top tether to one of the front seat rails for fully secured install.

I had this seat in all matters of small cars like the Evo, STI, E46 M3, 135, etc.

Has anyone found a small enough forward facing carseat to fit behind in a Double Cab? My wife's seat is almost all the way forward to fit everything.

    My post above.

Combi Coccoro worked great for us.

Ventured over from the mud Forums and considering buying a 2016+ TRD off road double cab. Currently DD a 97 Cruiser but as my kids are getting older and I need to drive them more looking for something newer/safer/more comfortable/etc. I'm 6'3", wife is 5'3" and we have a 6 yo in a booster and a 3 yo front facing. Thinking we would put the booster behind driver and front facing behind passenger (Diono seats). Most of the long drives will be in my wife's 2016 Cruiser but I'll be driving the kids around town and on short trips to see family, sports tournaments, etc. Anyone have a similar set up? How comfortable have you been on 2-3 hr road trips? Really don't want to buy a Tundra for a variety of reasons.

I was in the exact opposite situation of yours, vehicle wise.... have the 2017 Tacoma, looking at a 100 series for a shared family vehicle. Test the booster behind you as the driver and see if you fit. I'm shorter than you but my oldest is still only in a front facing jumbo seat. Way too cramped behind me. She fit, but her knees were in her chin. I'd run her to the emergency room like that but not on a road trip or even normal driving around town. That said, I tested a 100 series and it was really similar behind me driving, maybe slightly better but not enough to pull the trigger. Sweet vehicles, but not going to cut it as a daddywagon. Now we're lookin at going full minivan instead.

So make sure you try that booster behind you. If the kid fits comfortably behind you in a comfortable position, then it'll work. Otherwise it'll be tight and you won't have changed much.

My 97 is actually an 80 series and I had to buy and aftermarket seat bracket for the drivers seat to go back far enough to be comfortable. They fit but its too tight for anything over 30 min drive. Looking at 100 series as well as I think they have a little more rear seat room but its been so long since I've owned one I can't remember. Also hard to find a clean 100 that isn't overpriced in this current market.

ok gotcha, I forgot what years the model changed. I'd say from having just tried it myself, the 100 series is as-doable as the 3rd Gen Tacoma. It's just that neither of those were doable enough for me. I was really hoping a 2006-2007 with the better engine tune would have checked all the boxes...

Test drive them both with the kid in the back would be your best bet.

Trying to get an idea of how I am going to be fitting my 3 kids in the backseat of my double cab. Currently, the oldest (5) is in a booster seat behind the driver, next (3) is in a forward facing graco, last (June next year) will be in a graco click connect. Anyone have 3 seats of different ages?

New dad to be here, of twins. Been combing through all the child seat threads. Has anyone had two rear facing seats at the same time? Trying to do some research here on what my best options are. Obviously the Tundra mod has been racing through my brain, but I love my Tacoma. I'm 6'0", and spend a decent amount of time in my truck. My commute to work is not a quick one. Less worried about the seat behind my wife as she's 5'0" and can move her seat up a good bit and still be comfortable. Curious if anyone has has a rear facing seat behind them comfortably or has done the double rear facing?

6'4 here (32" inseam tho). the only comfortable space to put the rear facing seat, was in the middle position. it will likely be impossible for you to drive with a rear facing seat behind you. Your wife will also be touching the dashboard (not good to be so close to the airbags).

Came here looking for Access Cab car seat suggestions and I can't say I'm surprised to not find much.

I've been using a Snugride Snugfit 35 LX for almost a year now and it' fine. I can't have anyone in the passenger seat when the seat is there, but I can easily pop it out of the base and get the passenger seat back to a normal position. The boy is about to outgrow this seat and I'm looking for suggestions on convertible options. Ideally, something I can use at the same time as the passenger seat but if not, I'd at least like something that is super easy to remove in the event of a passenger.

What I've gathered from this thread:
    • Graco Slimfit
    • Graco Extend 2 Fit
    • Graco Contender
    • Diono Radian 3RXT

forward facing- the Diono will fit the best, as the base it the thinnest. it will allow space for your little one's fee, as the seat is indended lower in the back. with the other models, kiddo will sit up higher and the passenger seat will have to be pushed up alot. I put diono's in both my vehicles - in the DC there is now lots of space (previously I had one like the Graco's, and it probably cut kiddo's legroom by 6")

Well, middle seat was my plan. Then we got an extra surprise at the ultrasound. I plan on trying to test fit some to see if it's even remotely doable.

it's gonna be rough and it'll depend on the seats. I tried it back in the day and decided no more kids in the Tacoma

I'm also 6'3 and wife is 5'4. Def have the booster behind the driver. It works. Is it as roamy as a Tundy? No. I always say not like the kids are doing cartwheels in the backseat anyways. I've done several 9-10 hour drives with car seats and boosters. It was fine. Before you know it they're not using any seats and it's not an issue. Backset feels so much bigger once the car seats/boosters are gone. You should be good especially around town.

I removed the driver side rear seat back which allows my 6-4 self to have at least 4 inches between the car seat and driver seat. The seat base is secure and level still.
