    Evening all:

I remember those, it's getting tough to find anything "delicious" that's genetically engineered.

:spending:, just called an electrician to replace the old "Pushmatic" breaker box, they aren't known to be the best and the circuit breakers aren't made anymore and are getting hard to find. although there are plenty of refurbished ones on eBay---NOPE!
If I turn on both the microwave and the toaster it trips a breaker, when I built the garage or when I air up tires I run an extension cord up to the garage, now when I run the extension cord up there to run something it kicks out the main breaker which it never did before, time to replace it!

Well, I guess I'm not going to sleep much tonight; I just noticed a message in my inbox from Google HR saying they had "some fantastic news" they want to share with me tomorrow! I'm heading for the closet to fetch out a "gummie". :)

I have to get that done, 100 amp PushMatic panel. My electrician had a few extra ones, was able to get my new furnace and AC wired to code. Not tripping any breakers, but I’m maxed out. Love to upgrade but :spending::spending::spending:

    Morning all:
:rain: here AGAIN, been a really wet spring so far, but glad we aren't experiencing the heavy rain and flooding like some other areas are.

    Sounds promising! :fingerscrossed:

:fingerscrossed: that no new stones are forming.

:fingerscrossed: that the knee is good to go Tom!

Same here as for the expense of replacing the box, the one thing that I don't need is for the house to burn down, I would never be able to replace all the "stuff" that I have and would take a pounding on insurance coverage just to buy the things that I would need. :(
I don't think the new breaker box and installation cost will be that bad, it's any work that would need to be done to meet new codes is what worries me, most of the wires are up in the crawl space and covered with insulation which would be a royal PITB to access. :(

A few years back I bought 2 new 15A Pushmatic breakers at an electrical supply store for $2-$3 more than a local hardware store wanted for 1, that's when I was told that they weren't being made anymore. You know what that will eventually turn into, I got it, and you need it, so either pay my ridiculous price or do without!

LOL, I just got off the call with HR, they are definitely making me an offer, but there are lots of decisions to make so they can tune the offer letter specifically to me. I gave the HR rep my input and she will take all of that and do the ground work to generate the latter, hopefully late this week (I'm thinking kind of unlikely given the short week), or early next week. Yeah, I'm a happy camper.

    Evening all:
The electrician just left, he said the damages won't be more than 4K! He also said that if I ever sold the house I would have to replace that breaker panel in order to sell it. And of course, he had to mention that if I would have replaced it just a few years ago, it would have cost around $2,500, which was around what I was expecting, but that the breaker boxes and the breakers have gone up in price substantially in just the last few years, who would have thought! :(

Hate to say this, but it ain't going to get any cheaper, the longer you wait the more it's going to cost. It surprised me when he said the house couldn't be sold without replacing the current setup that I have, even if it was in perfect working order and not causing any problems.
I don't plan on selling, but wonder what else would need to be replaced/upgraded in order to sell a house, hopefully not my 60yo purring like a kitten Bethlehem Dynatherm furnace!:laughing:
