Currently I drive a 3rd gen Tacoma trd offroad , it’s my daily vehicle and I take her off-roading /overlanding 3-4 a month, I get 5.5KM/L (13 MPG) was wondering if that’s a good mpg for a stock lift + stock tire (265/70/16) Tacoma , I keep my PSI at 40 because I heard the high psi gets you better mpg —- PS. If anyone has 33s and stock lift please tell me your MPG —-

My daily is a sport with stock tires and height and I’m getting about 20mpg with mixed driving at 30 PSI. Hard to imagine just a lift hurts it that much on stock tires.

For some reason that looks higher than stock to me. But could just be an illusion. Excessively over inflating the tires doesn’t help anything. By the time it’s done enough to help mpg, it is causing the tires to wear the centers and it also significantly hurts handling especially under heavy braking and cornering. Might as well put the tire pressure back to 30 psi where it belongs. You’re clearly not getting great mpg by doing that anyways.

There could be any number of reasons for poor mpg. Can’t help with that without knowing more about how you use the truck. Could be incorrect calculating of the mpg, maybe something wrong, or maybe your foot is too heavy.

I read the mpg based on what it says on the truck? Is that wrong?

How many miles on your truck and, what kind of driving gives you 13 mpg? Around town, mixed town and highway, steady highway?

I have a 23' off road double cab, long bed and my mileage was around 13 mpg in town and not a lot better on the highway initially. After about 5,000 miles my mileage started improving. On the highway I now get between 15 and 20 depending on conditions. My last 1,000 mile run across Utah and Nevada almost never below 75 mph I got 18, 19 and 21 mpg on the three fill ups. Interestingly my dash read out for average mpg on the runs almost matched exactly my calculations at each fill ups.

My main concern about mpg is really just about establishing my range when traveling. I'm retired and don't commute so mpg is not really an issue for me from that perspective.

As for tire pressure and mpg, I'm more concerned with handling and tire longevity than mpg in regards to tire pressure.

My suspension is stock but I do have rather heavy tires, Cooper ST Maxx 265/75 16

It's accurate enough. Are you driving at high speed? Accelerating hard? Spending a lot of time per tank offroad idling and not going very far? Is the 13 mpg for a full tank or for one trip to the grocery store 1 miile away?

I occasionally speed up , nr
    I mean mixed
I hard accelerate I’d say twice a week and sometimes but rarely go over 60 MPH, truck has 50,000 miles on it and the 13 mpg is for mixed driving my city has traffic through most of the day so that’s what I get out of it

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
The first thing I notice is the bumper...it's not helping you one bit for gas mileage. The aerodynamics of these trucks aren't good, then you've added a bunch more drag.

Stop and go driving is the worst. It will easily drop my average by 20%. I have a lift, skids, bumpers, winch, sliders and pizza cutters. I still get high 15s/low 16s in town and as good as 19 on the highway as long as I stay below 75.

    How is your air filter?
