If it's just a wobble in an empty passenger seat, every truck I've owned has done this.

Dodge Ram and Dakota, Ford F150, now the Tacoma.

The seatbacks are just hollow metal frames and foam, not much you can do to stop it minus the counterweight options posted above.

Not just the passenger seat, that’s just the most obvious part. Coffee cups and water bottles shake in the cup holders, if you put a bag on the floor you can see it shaking a bunch as well.

Dealer said “have you ever driven a truck before?” Yes... I’ve ridden in 20 year old ford and chevys that are smoother lol

Don’t get me wrong, I know it’s not going to drive like a Cadillac, but when it’s shaking like something is out of balance except I’ve had 3 sets of tires and rims (original tires and rims, then winter tires and rims, then I bought new summer tires) that all do it, I feel like there’s something wrong lol. Feels like it’s going to cause excessive wear and tear on the drivetrain.

I had this shake/vibration between 75-80mph in my 2017 SR5 and have the same shake in my 2020 Limited. I find that if I move the passenger seat forward so the side of it is a bit tighter against the center console, it helps make the shake less noticeable. It’s not a cure, but makes it more tolerable.

Well, what I said about moving the seat up hasn’t worked very long. I finally stuck a folded up hand towel between the console and the passenger seat and that works better. Wish there was another more permanent fix, but this will do for now.

I have the EXACT issue. Whole thing vibrates so bad it feels like I’m sitting in front of a speaker with the bass turned up all the way and I need to pop my ears!! I’m taking mine in tomorrow for a rebalance. They’re also gonna take a look at my 5100 all around suspension lift. I’m real tired of the annoying vibration to the point it’s almost embarrassing to drive around on the freeway or with a passenger.

I had this exact same issue. Got new tires and had them take out the out rear spacers that came with the vehicle when I bought it used (the old tires were very low on tread)... vibrations at ~75 mph persisted.

Had my mechanic perform a 4 wheel alignment, and the problem totally disappeared. No more vibration and I'm pretty sure fuel economy increased slightly. Can't guarantee our situations are exactly the same, but they do seem similar.

A trip to Death Valley following rain and snow resulted in everything coated with mud/silt. When I finally got around to hosing off the truck it sat for a day allowing what was left to dry. Upon reaching 60-65 for the first time the strong vibrations started through the floorboard and front passenger seat, with the sensation coming from the rear tires. So what did I do? I started the Tacomaworld research and was bummed that I would have to spend time and money balancing, aligning the tires, etc. Yesterday I decided to rotate the tires to see if that would help and when I pulled the rear passenger tire one side of the inner rim had a thick layer of hardened silt throwing that tire off balance. After a thorough cleaning of all 4 rims my problem was solved and no more vibrations. I feel bad for all of you who did not have such a simple solution…

A buddies 2019 trd did the same and drove him crazy. He solved the problem with a new nissan. From what i gather its a common problem for some tacoma trims.

I bought my 16 TRD OR DC short bed three years ago. It has 30k when I took delivery, it has 192k on it now. I use it for work and I travel extensively throughout the midwest for work. I don’t overland, I do hunt and fish a lot. I tow a 20 ft bass boat in the summer. Never had a vibration, changed from the 245/70/16 to 265/75/16 Falken WP AT3 no problem. First set went 70k. Took a trip to Utah last year, bought another set…vibrated all the way there and back and haven’t been able to figure it out. Shakes the seat, passenger seat…so annoying. Rotate w every oil change at 5k. - doesn’t make a difference. Going to buy new wheels and tires and see if that makes a difference.

My 19 starts to get noticeable at ~ 45mph and increases with speed, at 55mph will numb your hand on steering wheel. Normal Characteristic of the Tacoma...

Have the wheels checked to see if one went out of balance.

Have any luck solving the vibration? Same issue here on an all stock 22 Pro. It is NOT a wheel/tire balance issue. Dealership says it’s normal and they aren’t going to do anything about it. I would just like to know the cause.

Having a vibration issue as well, noticeable on highway. I ordered new ujoints to put in. We'll see if this helps with the vibration. I have a 2016 where mine are greaseable. I didn't grease till my truck hit 100k (bad on my part). For peace of mind, i'm changing them out. I'll update after.

    Resurrecting an old thread.

Has anyone found any solutions to this?
I have a '23 Off Road with 7,000 miles that does this.

The first owner had a janky lift kit with blocks and spacers which I thought was the cause. I promptly removed all that but didn't help.
Next, I suspected that he messed up the shocks and struts with that lift so I changed those out with Eibach Stage 2, that helped reduce the vibrations at slower speeds but still shakes at 70-80mph.

Current setup is OEM wheels with new Continental HT tires, balanced and road force tested twice.

Check this video. Don’t know if previous owner replaced it, or know about it.
