I was trying to hook up an Jensen amp in my tacoma. I used the left rear speaker for the rca input on amp. Got the power wire run straight from battery and have remote wire on something only turns on with accessory/start and ground works. Amp powers on good and have it hooked to a 10 inch woofer in a box. But each time I turn truck on I get no sound out of any speakers much less the woofer. Then when I unhook everything and hook battery back up I get sound back. Anybodyknow what's going on?

You used a hi level to RCA adapter right? What circuit did you tap for the remote wire?

    This and that
I just hooked up an amp/bass speaker to my rear, no sound unless I connected both speaker inputs.

It sounds like you've already traced down a lot of the normal suspects.

The only other thing I would lastly check would be to connect an audio device(anything that plays music and has a headphone jack) to a 3.5mm to RCA cable, and use that as the only input into the amp while it's powered on. If you get audio out of the sub with that method, it means your problem is definitely on the factory radio/wiring side of things.

I have had amps in the past appear to power up correctly, but then fail to output anything when trying multiple known-good audio sources.

If that's the case, that everything passes the alternate input test, I suspect either you connected to the speaker backwards, and the amp is shorting the wires with it's internal wiring setup, or it's too much draw for the factory radio amp chip.

I would recommend a speaker to low level converter for starters-pick any of them, they're all basically the same.

Mainly in this case because they all use transformer coils to adapt the higher level signal to the lower level signal. This helps drop the voltage level, but it also better electrically isolates the new setup from the factory setup, eliminating potential issues with the new and old stuff 'fighting' on compatibility.

And I would also recommend you connect to the front speakers instead of of the rears. On these trucks, the rear speakers are given a frequency-limited output, which doesn't matter much for the rear speakers themselves, but will have a significant impact on your new equipment effectiveness.

Ok so the rear speakers aew not a good source to use for input into amp? The remote wire is into u der hood fuse box injector fuse. And so left and right need to be hooked into amp input to get sound?
