On the 16-19s the mic is in said location. on the 20s and up, the mic is moved to the headliner and the trail grid piece drops right in!

HAM radio installed, Kenwood head unit installed, tinted windows, TRD pro tail lights, MESO laser etched (topo) blacked out emblems and steering wheel cover, MESO dome and map lights, 3rd bed rail installed, MESO skip button installed, Puddle lights, bed lights, MESO over head rack, Kicker speakers, JL Audio stealth Box subwoofer, Alpine amp, 3TPAM installed.
The unit comes with a microphone that you will need to mount. You can also dial in the mic with the head unit settings. When I first got it people were having to ask me to repeat myself and now it's crystal clear.

You know who I wish would put out an update? Kenwood. There is no way they shouldn't be able to fit more CarPlay icons on screen!! They could easily fit another row/column on this thing.

Same thing needs to happen with Android auto. We finally got the add hazard screen where I can add cops and for some reason my 10.1 inch screen can't have it, but my tiny little phone screen it isn't a problem. There's other stuff too I wish they would update. For spending over 1k on a head unit there isn't a lot of options. Like for instance removing the widgets off the home screen. I hate them, and the weather one doesn't even work anymore. So, why can't I remove them entirely and have just the Nav up on its own?

I will let you know in about 20-30 minutes I just pulled the 18.4 update right now in anticipation ...

4 minutes left to download, then the update time.

OK so I really really wanted to love this HU but there's a few issues still happening and even some new ones have appeared. After messing with various Amazon Android HU for years and never having one just run it should without issues, I decided to go with one of the proven legitimate brands ( Pioneer/kenwood/alpine etc.) So $1300 later, not including the Maestro, I have the Dmx1037s. But ive had constant issues with this thing as well.

    1. AA still is constantly dropping the wifi signal. Drives me absofuckinloutley crazy!!
    2. Plugging my phone through the USB is barely better. It's constantly dropping the connection also!!
    3. The screen randomly goes black. Like if I hit the camera button to look through the rear camera. But instead of the rear view it's just a black screen. After maybe 5-8 ish seconds the screen goes back, to normal. This also happens quite frequently . When I put the truck in actual reverse the rear display comes up just like it should.
    4. The mic that comes with the unit doesn't work. Who ever I'm talking to cant hear me, but I can hear them.ive tried 3 different kenwood mics and they all take a shit after maybe a month max
These are such annoying things the are happening every single time I'm using the hu. I can't remember the last time I've had a day where the hu was working like it should. I've even taken it to BEST Buy and had one of their installers redo the instal so i can make sure it wasnt just my installation error. For $1300 I'm pissed !! Any day now I just know my fist is going to have a word with this thing!!

Sorry for the rant. This was kind of questions if anyone knows why I'm having these issues. But more for me to just whine and complain that my toy doesn't work right

Have you updated the HU by chance?

I'm not sure when I am making this upgrade, but what kind of amps are you running with this HU?

I'm running an Alpine R-A90S so I only had to use one amp instead of one for the speakers and one for the sub.

Well I finally got around to updating the Maestro RR2 firmware from 2.1 to 2.6 - got the moving parking lines. Very nice. Any other features that come with that update?

Oh, and I have to say - the update for the Weblink app - at least on the iPhone was excellent. I tried it once before and it was a pretty garbage experience, but this was far better now.

I thought the parking lines were stationary no matter what on the 3rd gen

The latest 2.6 FW added moving parking lines from the HU.

    The Toyota generated ones:

    The standards Kenwood lines:

I just saw Kenwood is adding the DMX1038S to their lineup. It's a smaller unit than the DMX1037S as they fit everything into a single DIN unit. But what I really found interesting is how they support split screen functionality, where you can have Kenwood features on AND Carplay/Android features displayed

Makes me wonder if there will be a firmware update to integrate these features into the other units?

It looks like there is a DMX1058XR and new 10.1" units in the direct replacement line (which doesn't makes a lot of sense to me IMHO).

Gotcha. I was thinking the Toyota ones were moving. This makes more sense now.
