i am replacing the head gasket on a 95 Taco i took the cylinder head to a machine shop i saw this hole uneven.
Can someone tell me what is the purpose of this hole?

You had the head decked? What you are seeing is likely corrosion from someone not replacing the antifreeze when required. Antifreeze does way more then protect from freezing, it keeps corrosion, to include the galvanic kind, at bay. It'll be fine but I'd keep up on the coolant replacement schedules and using the correct type.

Yes I agree the truck as seen better days i got it with 350K miles looks like the previous owner did not use antifreeze.

Seems that corroded hole is from water but i am afraid if i install the new head gasket it will leak.

i'be seen videos that they can weld and rectify the head again but in afraid the timing chain will end up loose.

Do you what the height tolerance is on this cylinder head?

If the head is flat, it'll be fine. The other coolant holes don't look great either.

Yes the head was rectifies by a machine shop.

but when i saw this hole oversized compared to the other
holes i worried it will leak.

will you recommend having the hole welded and rectified again?

i am concern on the head height due to the timing chain will be more loose.

How much was taken off to true it? You aren't welding up aluminum head material that, once you get back to uncontaminated aluminum, will look like a hippo with it's mouth open.

Sometimes there are different head gasket thicknesses to make up for material lost due to decking the head straight.

    This....
Gasket will fill / make up the difference....
If youre questioning it, take it up with the machine shop as theyre the one standing behind their work....
