I thought they did away with the SR5 nomenclature on the TRD models in Gen 3. My specs only show TRD Off-Road. I know it’s an additional package on an SR5, just don’t think they use it anymore.
I thought they did away with the SR5 nomenclature on the 3rd gens. While I know the Off road is a package, my Toyota specs list the truck as an Off Road, no mention of SR5.upload_2025-5-29_14-39-41.png

Toyota is a master at product description. ;-)

Can it be argued that the base off-road has the same interior trim as the sr5 interior (newer models)?

The 21 sr5 Trail Edition has no lift, no locker and no Pro wheels. While the 22 and 23 Trail trims have lockers, 1/2 inch blocks in the rear and 1 inch plus lift in the front with Pro wheels.
The 22 and 23 Pros have 1-1/2 inch front lifts with 1/2 inch blocks at the rear (previous 3rd gen Pro years are 1 inch).

all of the above are port or factory installed options (factory lifts)….not dealer dependent options available to all other trd and sr5 trims.

When I went to insure my new to me '22 SR5, the insurance focal said the VIN came back as a TRD Off Road, but the truck is clearly not - its an SR5 and is not equipped as an Off Road. I worried it would cost more to insure since the OR's had a higher starting price, but couldn't find it as an SR5 in their insurance system. Weird...

For the interior, no sir. The SR5 (and maybe SR) is two tone gray with different seat fabric. The TRDs are all black. There was red dash trim and stitching option on 2016s and 2017s at least. Plus the leatherette option on the Premium package and also the dark brown seats and accents on the Limiteds.

Funny thing, I actually like the color scheme in my 22 sr5 more than that of my 22 Pro. I still have yet not come to peace with the all black interior of the Pro.

I believe all third gen premium seats are real leather …yeah, say what you want about the 3 gen, but they still have old school real leather.

That is the nice thing about having choices. The SR / SR5 interior is nice, but I'm a monotone kind of person. The black suits me but was not a deciding factor for me. ACLB, trans choice, and tow package landed me on a Sport.

Gotta disagree with you about the seat material:

My 2020 OR has a 2-tone gray interior. I’m pretty sure my 2016 SR5 had single tone gray. Maybe I’m not understanding you.

Parts department was adamant that they were two different parts for two different types of trucks.
The parts guy did recommend the website toyotapartsdeal.com to reference. Which confirms I need part 53911-04210.
    Reading on here I found:
53911-04210 - Panel, Front Valance (without TRD Sport Package, No Paint Required)
53911-04901 - Panel, Front Valance (with TRD Sport Package, Comes Unpainted)

Good to know. This makes sense.

    Paranoia Paranoia
    Everybody's coming to get me.

So being new to Toyota and Tacomas it seems I have a SR5 (which is fine), with an OR package, that is an OR with ATRAC and a 6-spd MT. The decals on the box are good!
    I'm gonna buy part # 53911-04210

    I appreciate the feedback everyone.
I'm not getting in that van.
