Too bad that shop isn’t closer to me…. I would probably bring my truck there.

Name of the shop in Escondido? I'm close enough in Scripps Ranch.

Just got my 2015 painted. After all the depressing 7-10 grand quotes I was serously thinking about tape&paint Maaco. Couldn’t bring myself to do that. I’ve decided to keep the truck (97k)and was pissed off that Toyota wouldn’t help with the clear coat breakdown. Finally found a shop that stripped it down and did minor body work and 2 stage paint (stock gray with flakes) for $3500!!! Turned out amazing.Only downside they had it for 3 weeks but it was more than worth it.

I would love to see how your paint job from speedway is holding up! Did you like their work?

I’m still searching for a reasonable quote for a shop that’s not too far away. One day….

Not rain on your parade op, the paint looks good but in painting it’s 95 percent prep work and for 3k you know they didn’t remove anything and just taped stuff off which means it will peel sooner than later unfortunately

maaco and earl Scheib actually do decent work as long as you do all the prep work on your own prior to bringing it there

It’s ridiculous to pay $8000 for a paint job on a 10 year old or older Taco. Lots of people use Maaco and similar companies to paint their vehicles with great results. 90+ % of the people who bad mouth Maaco do so based on second hand information not personal experience. It’s basically they have a friend, or a friend of a friend or a cousins father-in-laws uncle etc etc. I’m not saying places like Maaco all do fabulous work. It may vary from shop to shop somewhat. My truck painted at Maaco 5 + years ago, is outside 24/7 still looks like new. My neighbor who had his truck done same time but a different Maaco shop, outside 24/7 also still looks like new. Another friend who had his 25 year old Chevy truck done at Maaco between 4 to 6 years ago still looks new. None of us prepped our trucks. On mine I went and saw the truck during prep. The surface was well prepped and sanded. They did both my truck and camper shell. (See pics above post #21, still looks great). My factory finish started peeling at about 9 years. If the Maaco paint job lasts 7 or more years I definitely got my moneys worth.

For a quality paint job at a fair rate, expect $5K
