2004 V6 with 255k miles was running perfectly. I backed up about 100 feet to park it in front of my house. 2 hours later a big pool of oil is under the engine. Openned the hood and oil everywhere over the top of the engine, radiator reservoir and out the tail pipe. The engine ran without any knocking or grinding sounds.

What was the cause and how does the oil cover the top of the engine, in the cooling system and out the tail pipe?

Was the oil recently changed, or added to?

    Is the fill cap missing?

    Is the filter properly attached?

How does oil get to the tailpipe without being burned?

The oil and filter was changed about 1,000 miles ago.
    Filler cap was on.
    Filter was secured. Used OEM.

    It didn't make any sense.
Oil pour to the ground from all the oil that was accumulating on the top of the engine.
Oil was in the cooling system also.
"And oil out the tail pipe.........?" that's what I said.

Didn't bother to check. The guy that was going to buy the truck for $8,500 offered me $2,500. I accepted and he drove it away.

Oil gushing all over the engine. Oil the radiator reservoir and out the tail pipe. Engine check light on. I was stunned.

What kind of perfect sense is it?

No chance. Anyone who saw the terrible oil mess would run away. Buyer said he's a Toyota mechanic.
