Is anyone having a problem with linking your phone to the truck? Phone periodically does not link, or if it does it only allows phone and music to be selected. Android Auto is not an option and if selected, the phone disconnects and I have to go through re-linking the phone to the system and disabling Android Auto and then "updating" the app on the phone, only to have it drop again. Many thanks

If you're connecting with Bluetooth, try using a cable.

I had a similar issue with my android auto (AA) with my '25 Tacoma. I restrict all apps to what functions they can or cannot do. I had AA disabled because my '14 Tacoma didn't use it. I restarted my phone then granted permissions back to AA. I believe AA needs access to nearby devices. I actually had to toggle nearby devices off then back on for some reason as well. This solved my issues. Now my AA connects to my truck wirelessly even with my phone screen locked as long as I have wifi and bluetooth enabled.

Have you used Android Auto with your phone in another vehicle? All iPhones have CarPlay, but who knows what’s going on across the Android ecosystem.

Thanks to all for responding. Yes I did use the cable and the system dropped the ball again. I have "deleted " the app and re-installed. It is a new phone, but this also occurred with my old phone. It is currently working. Can't wait to see if it continues to work. :)

I have a Pixel 8 pro and was having frequent issues with the phone not automatically connecting via bluetooth then android auto. One thing that helped was to keep the Tacoma side out of the "guest mode" by creating an individual driver profile. For some reason, a prior profile was not holding and the default became guest and the phone would not always connect. Now, with a profile reestablished, it seems to connect automatically via BT, then sometimes, but not always to AA. But when it connects to BT, the onscreen button for AA is prominent and it seems to work properly. The other thing is that if you use any type of hands-free devices (like a headset or earbuds), AA will override them, and force you to use the car speakers. It is a safety thing. You can override that tendency by running BT only for media, but you must turn off AA. Good luck. "Plug and pray" is plug and play.

Two things that helped with my connection recently:

First no VPN, it's built into my phone/service but I can exclude some networks. So I have it off when on mobile service.

Second set AA start to Always instead of Default (set by vehicle) in settings.
