That is mistaken simply because economy of scale and one shop warranty is not in your favor. What you have in your favor is inclusion/exclusion of your chosen feature set and self satisfaction in doing so. One should be honest and objective with their goals to make an assessment either way.

I've got a TH. Mostly because I hate sunroofs and black interiors. Did I need the 18" wheels, front stabilizer disconnect, ARB sport bar or rear bumper? No. Is the OME suspension super nice? Yes. Honestly the 18" wheels are probably more of a hindrance for serious off road and I'll probably have to sell them but they do look the part. I'm already trying to sell the sport bar now that I got my Contour canopy.

I will say that I get more looks and random dudes who want to talk to me about my truck than any vehicle I've ever owned. If you want to make new friends, get the TH. If you want people to leave you alone, get something else.

What wheels do you plan to get?

That's an excellent question. I honestly haven't done enough research to say. Maybe by the time I'm ready to change things out there will be more 18" tire options... right now leaning towards the Falken Wildpeak's. One issue with 35's is the spare won't fit under the bed and now you either gotta hang it off the back or throw it in the bed which eats up space (I went with the 5' bed option). My F350 had a 8ft bed and was also wider so I'm having to re-think how much gear I bring on trips already and I'd rather not hang it off back where it's in the way all the time. So 33's might be where I draw the line.

Anyways, my first camping trip is in a month- nothing crazy... other than the Contour canopy it's bone stock... which is honestly is pretty damned capable. Still feels a little naked going solo without a winch, so that's also on the list for the future. My F350 had a winch and it bailed me out more than once. That said... the stock Trailhunter is a lot more capable than a 2002 F350 CCLB.

Smaller spare is OK as long as it is moved to the rear wheels. It will do to get to civilization.

I inferred from your mention of 18” wheels that you were wanting a different size. I don’t think you can go to 17” due to the hybrid brake rotor size.

I agree with the tires. Not a huge selection right now.

Nope. Plenty of people have put on 17" rims on their Trailhunters.

I am sorry if this is a dumb question or misplaced. I plan to replace my third gen with a 4th gen this week. I have a TRD sport and I’m seriously considering the TRD Pro. It is mostly aesthetically driven, although I like the beefier suspension because I pull a boat. The only thing stopping me l, apart from 65K are the thickness of the ISO seats. If I get this truck, would someone near Mass be interested in trading the front seats. I need the legroom for my kids, not today but in a couple of years, they won’t fit. I plan to get black interior and would probably want overlander seats or seats from a premium edition. I assume they are interchangeable.
Ps. I used to go off-roading but haven’t in a couple of years and I’d like to think I would go again w/this truck. Thanks

Theres a guy wanting to trade seats on a 4runner forum. I’ll find the post later if you can’t.

So, I now have competition, lol. I’m sure there are plenty of people that would see value in the ISO seats. Thanks

Looks like I already responded to this post. Glad I saw this before I contradicted myself. Answering this same question today I'd say get a SR DCSB 4x4 instead.

I have an offroad and doing everything i want to it without the cost of a TH. IMG_0007.jpg IMG_3353.jpg

I’m pretty sure i spent more on this than you would on a TH or PRO.

I’m already in the ball park of 60k+ in total with the mods so…. To each their own

The Trailhunter is the absolute PINNACLE of the Toyota Tacoma lineage to date.

Any argument to the contrary is pure bullshit and cope.

    Period.

Which truck do you think will have 2025 ZR2 buyers driving to the Toyota dealership to make the trade. Sure the lower cost of the OR will be why they do it, what it could be will be their inspiration.

I like the ZR2 but if I saw Catfish at the light I might be reconsidering what I could be driving. I like the Trailhunter but if I was already in a Ford a GM halo I probably wouldn't jump ship. I agree with you that the TH is the pinicale of Tacoma 4x4 Toyota has yet to offer.
