Whats up guys I've owned 7 Tacoma's so far and it still shocks me how very few people even know about Tacoma X-Runner's so I'm on a Mission to make them popular again and hopefully Toyota will start making them again, and hopefully they will also bring back V6 Taco's as well. Here's one of my recent videos on a 2012 Tacoma X-Runner, let me know if there's anything about these trucks you'd like for me to cover:

I still see some on the road occasionally. Don't think they were that popular, at least not in my area. I've never seen one in person beyond the 2005-2008 model years.

They are neat trucks but they are kind of a niche vehicle, most people buy trucks to do truck things instead of for show.

It's no different than the F150 Lightning (not the EV), Chevy Silverado SS, Chevy SS, and Ram SRT10, all very neat street trucks but targeted at a specific audience and with very low production numbers.

The writing on the wall to me with the current state of the automotive world and regulations is that niche/one off vehicles like those are gona be pretty rare because it costs too much to develop, test, and certify vehicles to be making something that they are only gona make a couple thousand or less of.

It's not like the past where auto makers would build a concept vehicle for an auto show and if there was enough interest they would manufacture a batch of them, it's kind of a shame because we got some really cool vehicles but that seems to be gone at least for the foreseeable future.

Good on you though for helping keep them on the road.

XRunners are cool Rwd Tacomas just aren't as popular and the XRunner didn't last the entire run of 2G production. You could throw a supercharger on the 4.0 but the XRunner was targeting the Syclone crowed or so I thought Syclone gave you a turbo 6 from the factory and AWD yes that was a decade or so prior. Chevy did have the S-10 in an extended cab Rwd only configuration as well and either truck was availble simultaneously at least some point, the Xtreme also had the stock V6 those trucks are on a more level playing field. There really wasn't to many high performance vehicles available back then you had pony cars and what not with V8s the industry was pretty boring back then which is why I think there wasn't much push for more from these trucks. Seems like the Raptor was the next performance oriented truck to surface after that era.

Those are pretty common in the PNW. The actual 2nd Gen model nobody knows about is the DCSB 5 lug!

Your Xrunner is nice! One thing that always bothered me about my 2006 6-speed 4x4 Tacoma was the rev hang. . Wonder if the XRunner does that too.

There are a few DCSB 5 lugs in my area, they just don't look right to me.

Agreed, doesn't look right. That's why I bought a PreRunner . . I don't think I would have bought my truck everything being equal if it was the 5 lug version. But some people like them and like that real low platform.

Yeah it's a shame Toyota didn't make them all Supercharged from the factory, hopefully the new X-Runners will come turbo and still be offered with a manual gearbox.

Thanks I appreciate it and now that you mention it I do believe there's a bit of rev hang between shifts.
