    Good afternoon, helpful people.

Before we start, yes, I know the OEM roof rack is weak. I only plan to use it for fishing poles (really my son does).

Anyway, I bought one new. I got everything installed, which went well, until the very last bit where you bolt on the 2nd crossbar. Unfortunately, the piece that the crossbar bolt threads into is missing. Is there anyone who may know what part # that is?

picture of the underside of the top “half” of the passenger side rail for reference:

Did they sell you an incomplete assembly?

    Update:

I found it inside the box. It had apparently broken off inside the rail in shipping as one of the tabs on it was bent to the point it was almost broken off.

It was a definite struggle to keep it in place while tightening the bolt since one of the snap tabs was busted, but I eventually got it. And now that it’s bolted on, don’t think the little snapped off tab will matter. It looks like it’s just there to hold the square nut in place while tightening the bolt… hopefully…

When I installed mine that damn thing came out 4-5 times. I finally just put a few dabs of sealant on it to hold in place while i put the rack in place and bolted it down. Definitely a frustrating install.

Overall not super thrilled with the quality of the rack, but it’ll probably work.

I never understood why people poo-poo on the OEM roof rack? It works great for what it was intended for (relatively light loads) and I love the fact that it retracts in line with the vehicle when not needed. And it looks pretty good up there to boot. I see people spend a lot more money for those noisy Prinsu racks and then never use the damn things.

Aesthetically, I’m in favor of it. The idea to have storable cross bars was a good one. I just think it has a lot of plastic, and it’s not heavy duty enough to do much with. But again, for my current needs, not a big deal.
