Could one of you with the stain problem please ask the dealer what type/brand of tire shine they are using?? Phrase the question like "I want to be sure I don't use it" or something like that. Maybe they'll get the hint.

I believe the staining is from the chemical(s) that is in the tire to prevent the rubber from drying out over the life of the tire. The tires can "bloom" when they're new and in the presence of certain chemicals (tire shines). And that's when browning of tires frequently happens. Whatever tire shine they are using probably has solvent properties and is leaching the "brown" out of the tires. The shine itself isn't the culprit, but it is exacerbating the issue. Some brands of tires are worse than others.

I sure would like to know the brand of the tire shine. And what brand the tires are.

Based on the photos I'm seeing posted of this issue, I don't think this is limited to a "tire shine" problem. If they're applying it in the quantity described there is undoubtedly going to be "sling" that ends up on the fender / rear quarter. That being said this looks like a combination of rubber, rail / brake dust or other ferrous particles.

I would do a chemical decontamination with something like CarPro Iron X or Sonax Fallout cleaner followed by a clay bar or a synthetic clay disk as needed. That should remove the majority of what is being photographed here. Once those steps are complete you may want to compound and polish the area, but I suspect you could get away with a one step polish such as Sonax Perfect Finish or HD Speed and the appropriate pad.

I'm not sure where the folks having these problems are located, but if you're in the Denver metro I'd be happy to help with the above.

Tried clay bar, all kinds of chemicals, and mega elbow grease...didn't touch it. That stuff is the worst. Decided that it wasn't worth arguing with the dealer, who said they'd never heard of this happening and I must have driven through tar on the way home from the dealership which I absolutely did not. So after letting the truck be a truck in the mountains for a summer, all the resulting little nicks and dings from too much fun effectively covered it up. All good.

Crazy to think that tire shine would do that to paint!
