Anybody know the whereabouts of the OAT sensor on my 2008 Tacoma?

Your 08 may not have one if it doesn't have the overhead acessory meter, if it does have one it will be behind the grill on the center radiator support.

I recently installed that meter with a used part I bought but there's no temp display. That's why I'm trying to find out if I have an OAT. The compass doesn't work either so I may need a new circuit board.

There are 2 different accessory meters depending on year model (05-08 and 09-~12) and they are not interchangeable.

It should have Ground on Pin 1 (White/Black) and Ignition Power on Pin 2 (Light Green).

Power & ground must be OK on mine because the meter does illuminate although incorrectly. I was told the meter came out of an "07 and mine is an '08 so I think all is well. I did look for an OAT and found none. What bothers me even more is I found no connector for the OAT. I'm trying to track down parts right now.

My 2008 X-Runner didn't have one (or the overhead temp display - I found one of those on Ebay), but I found the connector for it wrapped up with electrical tape behind the grill. Follow the wiring harness to see if you can find one. Mine was located on the driver's side, not too far from the center of the grill...maybe a foot to the driver's side? (Trying to recall by memory, since I installed it over a decade ago.)

Not sure if the 2.7L Tacomas use the same wiring harness as the 4.0L, but it's worth taking a look.

The Thermistor (OAT sensor) was <$20 at the dealer then, and probably <$30 today. I wouldn't bother trying to buy a used one somewhere, since they are fairly cheap from Toyota.

If anyone's interested I did get this to work the way it's supposed to with the assistance of the Toyota wiring diagram. The display itself is too dim to be viewable in daylight. Also, sunlight glares directly on the display. Bad design. This wasn't worth the effort.
