I heard from Google HR last night; the HR rep verbally told me what the offer was going to look like and asked if it was acceptable. I'll be taking about a 9% cut in salary, but between benefits (better 401(k) match and four weeks of vacation versus only two now) and other compensation, I'll actually come out ahead; I told her the offer met my expectations and she said I'd have the official Offer Letter either late this week or early next week.

I will say this, and not personal, just me: The thought of working for anyone right now in my life has become quite literally abhorrent. In every way, even taking the money. My life is my life now, not "the MAN's". Yes retirement has changed me. Very much so. Sorry for my raw feelings, working for (any company) nearly finished me off, in many ways. Some switch in my team player head when working is quite binary. All in or not I guess.

Good morning all. Getting warmer now in my area as well.

 

No offence taken.

Fortunately I enjoy what I do, so there's that. The job needed an exception to work from a different location than where the team is located; the exception was granted as was a 100% work from home exception, which surprised my HR rep as much as it surprised me; even with this exception in place, I'll probably go into one of the three offices near me once or twice per week, if for no other reason than the networking possibilities and the free food. I've jokingly said the title requires its own business card, fortunately those aren't really used much any more; it is, "Senior Technical Solutions Consultant, AI, Custer Engagement Suite". I guess I'm still working from the "All-In" mindset.
