I don't know if you've said anything about what you will be doing for them. If there's any chance you will have any input for how their A.I. functions, how the A.I. "trainers" create information gathering, it would be interesting. Some of the errors I see in how the A.I. follows popular ideas instead of reality is a little disturbing.

Oh, I suppose I should give an update on how the Antiques Roadshow went yesterday. We had Kevin Zavian appraise an 1800s necklace and he seemed very interested in it because it was old... but it was basically costume jewelry and not worth a lot. We saw a young couple just before us that got some unexpected news, and it must have been pretty good because the guy teared up. It looked like they were invited to have their appraisal filmed.
The fish appraised for what I figured it would. But we had a surprise because we thought it was Danish and it's actually from India.
And the Cannonball hat was kind of a weird appraisal. The guy we went to was all excited... and he wanted to consult with another appraiser. Apparently the 12 year old (I exaggerate, he might have been 25) he was consulting with wasn't a car guy and probably thought the Cannonball was just a movie. The first guy suggested that they film the appraisal... and the second guy was about as uninterested as he could possibly be... and I guess he made the decision. I don't know what the appraisal might have been if it was filmed, but when the first guy was stifled he seemed like he was kind of thinking differently. He did say that the hat crossed over to several types of collectors, but the market would be with some guy with a vintage Camaro and a nice garage full of memorabilia. So the official figure? $2/300... for a baseball cap with a patch and a signature.
The place they had everything set up was outdoors, Red Butte Gardens in SLC. Big lawns, lots of flowers, waterfall and creek. Nice place and a great day to do it. About 75 degrees when we were there at 1 o'clock. Some SERIOUS security...

    Afternoon all:

Interesting Travlr, at least you know what some of the items you have are worth. I would have thought that old costume jewelry would have some value, seems like there is a decent demand for it.

Got my drip stopped, instead of messing with the shut off valve under the sink which may have caused more problems, I did like Tom said and shut off the whole house, removed the cartridge from the faucet, went to a local hardware store and got a replacement cartridge, installed it, and no more drip, cost me all of $7.40 and a little bit of gas.

Seeing the critter pics. and then no reply from Sue ??????, hope she's OK!
I could post something that would get her blood pressure up and get a :smack:---:D, but I'll just try a  Sue!

Dale, did you ever watch "FAILSAFE", it's a sci fi movie but should be a mandatory watch for anyone involved with AI.

I'll be working in the "Conversational AI" space, the Large Language Models (LLMs) and Speech To Text (STT) models Google uses, which I will be heavily leveraging, are extremely good. I've been using their models for nearly eight years now and the progress those models have made, monthly, sometimes weekly, has been mind blowing. Google's AI capabilities are extremely wide reaching and as such, each domain requires folks with very specific knowledge to bring new models to market. If I hung around long enough, I might well have some input at some point, but hey, I'm old, so my plan is to work until the end of the decade (into my 70s), and then retire.

I'm not sure what all that means... The only thing I have a gripe with is the shallow and often questionable information that the A.I. seems to be disseminating to the public. And when you talk to the A.I. it can't learn to even look up the better information it is given, or has any means to transfer a concern to it's "trainer". Basically a closed loop system for ongoing misinformation.

Misinformation is a huge thorn in the side of AI practitioners; unbiased "Human-in-the-Loop" processes are still the best and identifying bad training, but even that can be a challenge given the amount of raw data coming in on a minute-by-minute basis.

They just don’t understand Ken. It’s not just that we need the guns, fishing equipment and other manly things, it’s that we must have them, it’s in our dna. We can’t help ourselves, it’s our prime directive bestowed on us by our creator. They will never understand. Thank goodness my wife hasn’t looked in my gun safe lately or discovered my new $1000 Orvis fly rod and reel (hidden) deep in the closet. Gotta go, there’s a sale at Cabelas.

Ya know... I went into Cabelas to buy something to shoot 1200 yards and the little p**ck that horned into the conversation I was having with the guy I wanted to talk to turned me right off. I don't claim to be an expert in firearms but this kid seemed to think he was and wanted to be sure everyone else knew it too.
But I gotta say, with a long gun my wife can outshoot me. Not with a pistol though, not even close.

You guys need to treat your wives better if they gripe about what you buy. We were down in Las Vegas and checked in at the Ferrari (Is it a Ferrari dealership? All I know is they have a lot of expensive, high end cars for sale) dealership in the Wynn's Casino. There were a couple of Ford GT 40s and if there is any car in the world that gets my gonads in a twist it's that car. So I leaned over and whispered in her ear, "We could buy one of these cars." Now what do you think the average wife would say? Mine looked up at me and smiled... and said, "I kind of like the blue one with the white stripe."

My wife and I made the same deal regarding motorcycles as we did for guitars. I can buy as many as I want, just no affairs.......Works for me.

Over my 50 yr love affair with guitars and motorcycles I bought 30 motorcycles and 60 or so guitars. I did usually sell one in order to get another.

This is a replica of a 51' Fender Nocaster I built. All high end components, every screw was even slotted as to be period correct. I could not afford to buy a birth year guitar, so I built one. The 51' Nocaster's sell for over $100,000.
