That's a parking brake cable. You'll have to remove the brake drum and unhook the end of the cable from the shoe's actuating lever. The cable has an aluminum fitting secured to the backing plate with screws. You'll probably need to heat up the screws with a torch to loosen them.

Given the *stainless steel* muffler is held on with duct tape. Are you sure the ex cut the cable? If so, which of the two did this?

Thank you, I thought it was regular brake. It’s some fibreglass muffler repair on a hole in my muffler

does the replacement cable run all the way from the drum to the cab?

^Yes the cable includes a rubber grommet where it passes through the cab floor. It hooks to the balance bar under the center console. You should be able to see it if you pull the plastic panel with the single cupholder.

This is the replacement cable: https://partsavatar.ca/raybestos-rear-right-brake-cable-bc97059

That’s a criminal charge, but I don’t know what it might be called in your jurisdiction. I personally would not let that slide, or the criminality might continue.

That relationship was/is toxic, and the irrelevant description of her physical appearance can be read as an indicator the toxicity goes both ways.

Speaking of both ways, the best direction either of you can take is away from each other without looking back. It’s way too easy for any of us to get dragged into self-defeating situations by toxic relations.

Original parking brake cable on a 17 year-old Canadian truck that already had a frame replacement. She probably just looked at the cable wrong and it rusted through

The angle of the bracket near the axle housing looks off. It looks like the bracket causes the cable to go too vertical, versus guiding the cable towards the front of the truck. This would cause a sharp bend in the cable. It also looks like the cable sheathing is cracked, just rear of backet holding the cable to the frame.

When I put new leafs on mine, I had to alter the bracket closest to the axle housing to limit the bends in the parking brake cable.

It is possible that the cable snapped because the bracket caused the cable to bend too sharply. When you had your frame replaced, also possible bracket and cable were routed in a way the put stress on the cable. Something to consider when you replace the cable

Here is pic of the bracket on mine and the cable routing. Notice no sharp bends in cable.
