Think it happened after hitting a stop sign years ago and they replaced it with that part I was missing.

you need the green tab in tact for one attachment point
and the outsides of those slip over a metal tab (part 1 on putting them back on)
theyre a pia, i kind of messed up one of mine when i learned how they work lol

Refer to the below picture, specifically the backside. Proper installation has you slide the slotted end over a tab, then click in the clip on end closer to the center line (left side of the top, backside view). Can remove yours and check that it still has that clip, OEM pieces have the clip as green.

If you're having problems getting the green tab to click in all the way it might help if you slightly push down on the bumper while pushing the green tab in

I'm confused where it's supposed to go.

To reiterate, I hit a street sign sliding in the snow around 3 years ago and couldn't find all the parts that fell.

Dad took it to a guy while I was studying and they "fixed it" but seems like they just glued it with some stuff but now they both pop. Trying to do it right lol seems like I'm missing a part?

Found this pic, not sure if the green clip is sold separately though...

Edit based on the next post, I think that's the inner one of these:
    53935-04020 (OUTTER)
    52531-04010 (INNER)

IMG_0254.jpg So first pic you see the small square hole? The second pic this bracket snaps into that and the green piece snaps into the circle. Your missing that clip that mount to the body. IMG_0253.jpg
