WOW just WOW FRICKEN Car Max

So Paid 1999.00 to have a 2022 Toyota Tacoma shipped to my local Car Max, took from May 15th, they got it on May 29th said it had a dent in the Roof and that they had to get it repaired. Which is fine good ....... But get a call today and they say the roof is leaking and that they are going to put it up for auction, but they will refund my Shipping charges. Maybe it's my Paranoia BUT WTF........... feel like someone there wanted it so they blow me off.

 

Sorry to hear about your troubles but take it as lesson learned never buy a vehicle that’s not right in front of you.

No, but asked for Pics (of the bad roof) to show me the truck (which I have never seen before in person) and no response from my text yet... So Yeah

 

Manual trans AC Tacos seem to be very highly coveted... I would not be surprised in the least if OP is correct that someone else wanted it more badly and slipped someone some $$$ to intercept it.
Who knows... The roof dent thing might've even been just a ploy to buy some more time for this person.

It's crazy what Toyota has caused by limiting production of these trucks (I had a bit interesting buying experience with mine as well).

 

You're thinking that Carmax, a ten billion dollar publicly-traded company, would rather hook up an employee than sell a car at a huge profit, including marked-up shipping charges?

I'd just move on and pick something that's available and you can actually drive and test before buying. Lots to choose from out there instead pf being stuck on an albatross.

 

Carfax should show that it either went through an auction or was Titled right away.

 

$44k for an access cab, manual, w/ key start and those wheels? Id say you dodged a bullet.

 

Larger companies normally handle such things in-house and not report it to carfax at all.

 

i think they meant to see it sold w/o it going to auction as it sounds like they burned him in house on the transfer.
