My mom and stepdad bought an 2006 Taco 1GR-FE SR5 brand new... My stepdad has since passed and my mom gave me the truck. The engine "blew" 2 years later at 178K. No, I do not know what why or how. The truck sat for 28mths. Now that my boys are going to college they want the truck. We are down to removing the last 2 bolts from the A/C Compressor, Starter, Engine mount, disconnecting the Transmission. Hopefully there isn't too much damage, possibly have machined and completely rebuild it ourselves. Last Homeschool Project.

    Looks like fun.

I'd be on the lookout for a blown headgasket as the early years (2005/06) were known for it

Literally the first repair I did on a car was a HG on my 87 Supra. I didn't know squat but I had a factory service manual, a Hex-head special tool for the headbolts and a new headgasket from the dealer. I took it apart and put it back together reusing everything else haha. It ran for another 3 years before i sold it. My friends dad let me use his garage for 2 months to get it done. Good times

You make it sound easy...except the 2 months part. lol
You maybe right, idk. If the pic posts... oil starts from the head but I heard something else in its last moments. IF HG , the rebuild would be more fun. I rebuilt a 460 with my stepdad and it was just fun. Hoping to pass that on to the boys with his own truck.
