Can someone explain how if I went to bed at 9:15 last night and woke up at 3:15 this morning why I'm way more tired than I would have been if I'd gone to bed at midnight and gotten up at 6?

Sorry for the Friday morning math problem.

And coffee isn't really an option as ! can't drink it without creamer and I'm on the keto thing again to drop some baggage before our trip.

Dude came in and showed me pictures of a boat engine on his boat. He's trying to change the thermostat and broke 2 of the 4 bolts holding it and has an easy out broke in one of them and ask if I could get them out. I politely said no, especially with the easy out broke in it and it being attached to the boat with the housing still in place with the other 2 bolts still holding it. (he hasn't tried them yet)

I suggested a boat place, he said none of them want to work on it either.

He walked out then came back into the shop and ask how long has this shop been here? I said a while, I've been working here almost 30 years. He smugged and said his dad was a machinist and he could get them out if he was still alive.

I said that's awesome, have a good day :hattip:

Curious, if he had the motor in his truck at the shop instead of leaving it attached to his boat, would you have given it a shot?

No, not with the broken easy out in it. Being where it was and how big it was there is no way for me to hold it on the mill.

Only way I've found to get those out is with a secure hold and a carbide end mill in the milling machine with high RPM's. No way to hold one in a hand drill and make it cut what actually needs to be cut

Many years ago I worked for a company (Japanese -owned) which did the same thing. Old president got fired, VP took his place - said we're going to run consistently through the month and not do the end of month rush.

Took about 3 months before he realized that he had to justify numbers to Japan, and started coming in at the end of the month -- "Need to get this all out!!!"
Also played the game of counting stuff shipped the first day of the new month.

Current company used to occasionally count stuff that was in shipping by midnight on the last day of the month, even if it didn't get out the door.
Now it's pretty well set that it has to be boxed, labelled and sitting on the shipping dock by midnight.

They do pull anyone they can get - including management, engineering, etc. to hang out until midnight to finish packing stuff as it's coming from final inspection.

New other duties as assigned Friday task.

Put up about 500 of these on the main entrances on all of the buildings on campus.
