When you try to shift your way into Temp Mode, just keep trying at different cadences. I tried it again this morning and finally got it into temp mode but it was not at the cadence in the video. The Care Nut does it really fast. Who knows. Would love to hear how it goes with the FJ.

Don't know I've never used temp check mode, I have scan tools so I just use trans temp.

Faye compared the temperature readings from a scan tool and an IR thermometer and found them to be very close. Personally, I'd recommend picking up a temp gun and checking the fluid when it reads around the minimum required temperature (97°F — with the actual fluid likely being about 5°F higher). In my opinion, this method is much easier.
