It's would be for the wife's daily driver to work...no need for a 4x4...
Having said thar we've decided to not buy it. I've never heard of this warranty provider it's to risky.

2wd? Buy a new SR with Zero miles for a little more and be done with it. Extended warranty's are available if that's your thing.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Wait for the Toyota Stout mini truck. Edit: get a black one. White stripe. I’m done (although a nice navy blue could be wicked.

New SR with no miles, better financing, and a factory warranty.

2WD or 4WD is based on your needs, just make sure it comes with those cool retro base steelies.

A minivan can do all that stuff
The thing about 2wd trucks is what does it do better than a 4wd truck? Use a tiny bit less gas and save you a couple thousand at purchase time
But a minivan is cheaper and better on gas…

That’s pretty average for what I’ve seen but shop around cause there’s definitely better. If you wanted lower miles I think you could find something for the same price. I just purchased my 2020 for 29k otd and it has the same specs but only 20k miles and they threw in brand new toyo tires. The depreciation on these is so small you should find something with less use or get a newer one for that price. Unless you love the 3rd gen.

Sure mom, load your minivan up with brush from clearing and lumber. And have fun loading lol.

People buy utility trucks for a reason - to use as an actual truck.

if you think about it, the only time you really need a 4WD truck is when you really need a 4WD truck. :help:

True. Which might be one or two days a year where I live in piedmont of NC.
I drove a 2WD Ford F-150 with a high rise camper shell on an 8000 around the continent summer expedition. North to NYC, up into Canadian North, then west and down to the Dakotas and Arizona on rocky roads in Indian territory. into California, South to the Florida Keys. Then back to NC.
90% of Tacoma 4WD drivers have never made such a trip. I see them at the mall lol.

Just buy a new one. For that price your already out 1/3 of the life of the vehicle and things will start going wrong with it soon. My 2016 had rear coolant pipe leak and two separate AC failures after 80k miles. I wouldn’t trust that warranty to cover anything major.

and I’ve needed 4x4 exactly zero times in the 8 years I’ve owned my truck. Not all of us go off-roading or live in states with snow.

Seriously, how can this be a question. Was probably $31-33k new. Its one thing to go test drive one to see if you like the 3rd gen over the new one. But to actually consider a car with 88k miles for $29k plus tax...What werent you thinking.

New base-comes with 5 year warranty, with no previous owner, new tech, newer body style. Presumably better mpg.
Used 2021-comes with 88 thousand miles, a 3rd party warranty covering only when things break, inheriting the used brakes, tires, wear and wear and cosmetics the previous owner wanted to get out of.

Brand new SR 4 door RWD $34k: https://www.cochran.com/inventory/new-2025-toyota-tacoma-sr-rwd-4d-double-cab-3tykd5hn3st025649/

Because we can, and most people who buy 4x4s nearly never use them and pay extra for them and don't know how to keep them maintained, and when they actually do use them, they will end up with issues like transfer case leaks. I've seen it more times than I care to admit.

I've seen 4x4 SR 4drs for like $37k should br able to negotiate if they have a few on the lot. Might even be able to get a Rwd for $30k. Even at those prices I still want the Xtracab.

Cars don’t have beds. Don’t have clearance. Aren’t trucks. Aren’t Tacomas.

I have a 2WD. I don't off road, why have all that extra weight and more stuff to go wrong when i would never use it.
I do wish my 2WD was REAL posi traction.

    (UPDATE)

My wife went with a Brand new Equinox AWD SUV with 15miles on it.

Paid $32,780 and had enough left over to buy a 150,000 10 year Bumper to Bumper warranty. So she's covered until 2035 or 150,000

The app is nice also...adjusting temperature from app is REALLY NICE.

I had her windows tinted with 5% all around...

I have to admit I like this SUV...here are a couple of pics
