Could it have been the parking sensors?

Can't speak to Dallas traffic as I've only driven through the top of the state (Amarillo), but the 3rd gen Tacoma's do something similar with their pathetic automatic transmission tune. Punch the gas and the truck has to hesitate and think about what it's supposed to do for 3 seconds before it moves.

As a Native Texian who can trace his roots back to 1836 in the state, and on behalf of the rest of Texas, I formally apologize and respectfully request you take that as a mulligan and come back some time. Amarillo is the Cousin Eddy of Texas. Only reason we kept the panhandle was so the state would look balanced when we put it on mud flaps, trucker caps and belt buckles. Pretty forward thinking at the time.

My wife's 2013 Corolla does the same thing. I have to either drop it into third or floor it and wait.
