    Hi all,

I am sorry if I just didn't find the right thread. I have a simple question:

I have a 2010 taco I just bought, it's the base base model (which I love), 2wd, mt. The only mod I would like to make is some sort of skid plate for the engine bay. Obviously not for offroading but just so that less salt and dirt gets in the engine bay.

    Thanks a bunch!

    I have same truck in a 2013.

I added a TRD skid plate. Had to make a couple slices in it to bend in order for fitting. Laid it on the floor on 2x blocking and used tractor bucket to bend. Even being aluminum its pretty stout.

Welded a couple L-angle brackets to cross support behind bumper for forward support. Needed some spacers here too. Made 2 elongated slots at the back of plate to mate up on holes I drilled on the 2 parallel brackets that run fore & aft.

Worked well. Did it to deflect road debris (rocks, tire remnants, bolts, small critters) and it does reduce amount of dirt & grim a little.

Had to remove when new frame was installed. Not had a chance to reinstall yet.
