I have an aftermarket fan clutch that works intermittently. Sometimes it will lock up and make the loud noise when engine temperature only 160 F. Other times, temp will climb to 188 F and fan quiet as can be. Not working right! What is best choice to replace it with? Thanks to all you gurus!

Someone will have to confirm then because I'm unfamiliar with the 4 cylinder engine.

Wait are you saying 188 is too high? That is normal operating temp. 190-195 is considered normal, 188 is perfect. Sounds like it’s working to me

160 at operating temp would indicate an issue to me, unless you have a crazy low thermostat installed. They are not supposed to operate that low

Most thermostat are 170-180 degrees with normal operating temp being 190-195.

Unless you’re not running a thermostat
