I didn't get a pic of my Tacoma pulling it, but I took over after the car stalled.

Jay Flight 26BH. About 29 feet, 4900 dry. It could be towed with the Tacoma. But like they say, just because you can doesn't mean you should.
    Cheers.

That's longer than the trailer I tow with my Tundra, though not quite as heavy.

    I pull a 2010 rockwood freedom 192XR. Dry weight of 2,200
Picked it up used not too long ago. Wish it didn't have AC so I could more easily build a canoe rack that sat lower. Fun little popup with some good upgrades on it, even has some factory shocks that probably suck. I should put my takeoffs on there.. anyways, 25 gal water tank and a 4'x7' storage rack in the front. AZ (phx area) up to the mountains is not a mild tow but I have a big spal aux electric fan wired up and have pinned the Tstat and will install a bigger cooler soon. Also I am really patient towing and my expectations are realistic. Its fun and has great clearance. I need some action shots without my kids in it being goofballs. Here it is taking up too many spots at the payson culvers.
Oh I also have airbags on the truck and they are great for towing but ruined the ride unloaded (tired leaf springs) so I ordered some deavers stage 1s and I'll let you know how that goes.

Bought the Scamp first, then bought the Taco to tow it, not knowing about the composite bed and lack of 5th wheel options for 3rd Gen Tacos. Driving a Canyon or Colorado wasn't an option. I overcame those obstacles.

Dang. I'm jealous. Can we see more of the scamp and associated modifications?

    Here's my DIY hitch set-up.

I needed it to be nearly as low-profile as a drop-in. My Scamp is an 83 model, fiberglass interior instead of wood, so it comes in just shy of 2000 lbs dry.

I opted for the spider hitch system, and got with a local fabricator and we built off of that. All in with some friend pricing, I spent about 400 on the half inch plate, 450 on the hitch, 125 on the universal rails, 500 on the fabrication and cutting, and 180 on the powder-coating. Been running this setup for two years, and a little shy of 5000 miles without issue. I know it's overbuilt for an ultralight 19 footer.

The scamp does have a 6 inch lift on the torsion axle. It was a frame off restoration. I'll post some interior pics when I get them uploaded.

Edit to add.. The plate does not touch the bed. I have steel sleeves running down to the frame. The plate hovers over the bed by 1 mm or so.

As promised, here are some interior pics. Say hello to my little friend.

Even on the road, gnome defense can't be overstated.

View from the loft. These older ones have much more interior space than the modern deluxe models which focus on storage.

Three burner range. Has a place for a bathroom, but didn't come with one. Or air conditioning for that matter. I'm probably going to install a Laveo, and I have a roll around AC that I use which works surprisingly well. Hoping to eventually install a mini-split to address heating and air. I'm also crazy, so I'm considering a wood-burning stove/heater, and keeping my roller AC.

The dinette converts to a bed, the couch converts to bunks, and I have a queen in the loft. So, I could sleep six in relative comfort, though I can't imagine having that many of my friends together at the same time...

This was a beautiful October night at Blackrock Mesa in Oklahoma. Truly a hidden gem if you are into dinosaur fossils, footprints, and catastrophic geology.

This was Memorial Day Weekend in Carlsbad, NM. I installed a roof rack and 8x6 and 6x4 canopies on passenger and driver's sides respectively. If you ever find yourselves close to Carlsbad Caverns, Sitting Bull Falls is close and worth the extra 60 mile round trip..

Thanks for the interest guys. I think I'm going to like it here.

Hitch for the new setup is working great. If anyone needs an adjustable hitch, I 1000% reccoment Bulletproof hitches. Great for high clearance off road bumpers that need something in the 8"-12"+ drop range that can be harder to find a fixed version of. Had to run the 16" drop on mine. Bulletproof makes a brace kit, but i wasn't a fan of their design, so i made my own.

I need to get my pop up out of storage and get it ready for camping. I removed my stove inside because I never use it, now I need to cap off that gas line so I don't die. And the vinyl floor gave it up last year and got ripped all the way out. So I need to put something down because camping on osb doesnt sound fun.
